Bees Knees is one of my most favorite cocktails ever. It’s one of those drinks that can be enjoyed year round. It’s typically made with soothing lemon and honey, making it great for the colder months but the light, refreshing flavor is also great for the spring and summer. I’m growing some lavender in my garden and besides it looking and smelling beautiful, I have been trying to think of some ways to use it. So, on Pinterest I recently saw some Bees Knees recipes with lavender and voila, the Lavender Lime Bees Knees was created! I didn’t have any lemons, so I used lime. It wasn’t too shabby. Here’s the recipe:
Lavender Lime Bees Knees
A beautiful, light and refreshing cocktail that's great for the summer months.
Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
- Muddler (optional)
- Fine mesh strainer
Ingredients
- 2 oz honey water – Equal parts honey and warm water
- 2 oz gin
- 4 sprigs lavender
- 1/2 fresh lime juice
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- In the shaker, combine 2 oz of honey water, lime juice and 2 lavender sprigs – muddle together for about 30 seconds
- Add 2 oz of gin and ice to the shaker
- Pop on and secure the top and shake to combine all the ingredients
- Pour into your favorite cocktail glasses using a fine mesh strainer to catch any lavender bits
- Garnish with the remaining 2 lavender sprigs, sip and enjoy!
